Agile Notes (No. 30)
This week we continue our re-read of the EXCELLENT Coaching Agile Teams by Lyssa Adkins. We are taking it a chapter at a time - hey! book club anyone? This week Chapter 2: Expect High Performance.
Before we dive in, please Like, Comment, Share with a friend and subscribe if you haven’t all ready. (And thanks for the likes and shares. I see you!)
I feel like this is a crucial first-step in working with ANY team - Agile or otherwise. Set. The. Expectation. For. Greatness. Lay it down. See who picks it up. In 4th grade, my daughter had a teacher that always said, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” Expectation setting for 4th graders.
BONUS CONTENT (for all 47!!!!????!!! of you). Wow! I started off trying to be funny there - there is no bonus content - there is just content - but whoa! there are 47 of you now! Anyway - 2 snapshots this week….
The book referenced in the snapshot is Collaboration Explained by Jean Tabaka. It is the second most-referenced book by Adkins. I know because I counted. Yeah - get to know me.
The yellow highlights are from the first time I read this book. The blue are the more recent highlights. If you can get a team developing/continuously improving across each of those areas you will quickly get to a place where you are delivering OUTCOMES versus output. (I read that line somewhere the other day. I LOVE it. I can’t find where I saw it.) Delivering business value versus checking the completed work box.
